This is my story.
We all have a story to tell and this is mine. My name is LaJoyce Kerns and I live with my daughter and grandson in Peoria, Arizona. Peoria is located northwest of Phoenix, or at least the part I live in is. Peoria is pretty spread out and we live in the north part of the city, up by the foothills that ring part of the Valley of the Sun, as this area is called. We bounced from Savannah, Georgia to El Mirage, Arizona (a small community about 15 miles away) to Peoria over 4 years. I think I'm ready to stay put for awhile.
One thing about moving is it forces you to rethink your life, your necessities and your dreams. Old curtains don't fit the new windows, furniture must be arranged differently, closets are bigger or smaller, and the old color scheme feels flat and awkward. Good! Now we can shake things up, try new arrangements, rethink ourselves. I'm even, finally, working through the boxes of craft projects that have traveled the country with me. And Yella the cat, nearly 20 years old now, has new rooms to explore and new sights, sounds and smells to catch his attention.
I've been lucky in that I have had the opportunity to travel and live in many different places in the United States. Each place I've lived in has contributed a special element to my education, outlook and perception of life. In each of my homes I have been privileged to see and experience the flavor of that particular community.
I have found certain situations to be universal, and some that apply to decorating in particular. Don't we all want a comfortable, well-maintained home? Don't we all want to be able to locate any given item when we need it without a prolonged search? Don't we all want the rooms in our home to function as needed, but also to satisfy our desire for beautiful surroundings? And wouldn't we all like to achieve this result without spending more than we have to?
I realized that it might be beneficial to develop a resource featuring tips and advice on decorating within a budget. I chose to focus this website on decorating a bedroom, and I will be developing websites for other rooms as I can.
I hope you enjoy this site, but more importantly, I hope you find some nugget of information that helps you with your own decorating efforts.
If you have any questions or comments, you are welcome to email me.
I would love to hear your story.
